We provide services for children aged 6-18, with the exception of gifted assessments, which we complete for ages 3+. Adult assessments are considered on a case by case basis.

Most services are billed at $230/hour, which is aligned with the recommended rate for psychologists in Alberta. The estimated total cost of your services will be provided to you during or after your initial (free) consultation, so that there are no surprises.
You can pay via e-transfer or by credit card. Credit card payments are processed via JaneApp. Payment for each session is required at the end of each session, at the latest. Full payment is required prior to results meetings, and reports are released after final payment is received.
-
All services are provided by a registered psychologist, and your employer benefits/insurance may cover a portion of the cost. Clarify coverage with your insurance company beforehand, as policies can vary. After each payment, you will receive an electronic receipt which you can submit to your insurance company. In addition to psychology benefits, you may be able to claim balances under your health spending account. Also, psychology services are an approved medical expense at tax time.

We operate out of our home office in the SE Calgary community of Riverstone (see Contact page). After you drop your child off, you can access a wealth of amenities up the hill in Cranston and Seton while you wait!
Please note that our home office does not have a waiting area. You will be required to drop off your child and pick them up. You are welcome and encouraged to come inside briefly to see the office space and to settle your child in, but there is no waiting room inside.

If our fun, encouraging, and warm approach does not alleviate behavioural difficulties, and if the child is not able to participate/engage, parents will be required to pick them up. A referral to a more appropriate service may be provided.

Orton-Gillingham is an approach to teaching literacy. At kidPsych, clinician expertise is derived from a 2 year training program for a similar approach (LETRS; Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), which is approved by the International Dyslexia Association. The Orton-Gillingham and LETRS approaches are similar as they are both direct, explicit, structured, sequential, diagnostic, prescriptive, and based on the science of reading.

Completion of this form requires the psychologist to attest to severe and significant impairments on activities of daily living. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and completion of the form is not guaranteed.
