About kidPsych

Hi! I’m Shelina, owner and psychologist at kidPsych. My formal education includes a Masters of Education in School & Child Psychology and a Bachelors degree in Social Work. I am registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and am a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta. My 15 years of experience has included working with children aged 3-18 in various settings including public, private, and charter schools as well as private practice clinics.

My professional interest and passion is in literacy. Personal interests include travel, baking (serious sweet tooth here!), reading, podcast walks, workouts, and board games. I love snacks and naps. I live in SE Calgary with my amazing husband who is a teacher, which gives me additional insight into the classroom. We are also parents to our adorable toddler son, and we love watching him grow!

Values & Style

At kidPsych, we value collaboration, transparency, professionalism, and respect. We recognize that we bring education, training, expertise and experience to the table; however, we believe that parents and professionals who work with the child bring information and experience which is equally important. We highly value transparent and timely information sharing and mutual respect.

While we demonstrate professionalism in all that we do, our style with both parents and children is relaxed, comfortable, and fun. We pride ourselves in our ability to create a warm and friendly environment and to engage in authentic interactions. Children leave our office excited to share what they worked on. Parents are able to relax, knowing their kids are in good hands.
